Doerte Weig is an artist-researcher with a background in social anthropology (PhD), corporate management and communications, and teaching. Her fascination and aim is to uncover the different facets of human movement and physicality, and how these relate to social-political change and urban transformation. In her current project with the United Nations University Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM), Doerte, as a specialist on the nexus of bodies and mobilities, is investigating the impacts of migration and urban citizenship.
Doerte is keen to generate projects that bring together science, citizens and the arts, and to actively take this work into urban planning departments – knowing that we cannot think the future of cities - smart, creative or otherwise - successfully, without taking into account the physicality and sensoriality of our moving bodies.
