Democracy is a work in progress and shall not be taken for granted.
Aiming to address the structural flaws of our institutions and stimulate citizen engagement, civic technologies find themselves in a deadlock. Although opening government through transparency, participation and collaboration has proven impactful, online participation is quantitatively and qualitatively low and, the technical infrastructure of some our online democratic tools is more opaque and centralized than our current institutions. Drawing on the experience of Open Source Politics in digital democracy as well as the expertise of international speakers, we will outline best and worst practices to build open and efficient concertation processes that guarantee sense, power and time.
